Move over MP3 watches, the Watch phone is here. Technology seems to be growing at lightning speed. What seemed to be science fiction a few years ago is turning into reality now. A WATCH PHONE that you could only see in a James Bond movie or some other sci-fi movie will soon be bought at your neighborhood electronics store!
What can a watch phone do?
Well the word is that a watch phone can do pretty much everything that your mobile phone can while conveniently sitting on your wrist!! They have features liketouchscreen; a built-in speaker and MP3/AAC player; VGA camera; Bluetooth whole lot more. Some of these like the LG GD910 boasts of an internal memory of 2gigabytes and 3G technology!! The Samsung S9110 has features like e-mail . I am sure new features will soon be implemented in these phones creating a large market for these little marvels.
The looks..
Ok now, you have to admit that these phones are slightly larger than your ordinary wrist watch. But in case you like watches with huge dials then you and the watch phone would be a match made in heaven. With a shiny touch screen and a scratch proof body you are surely going to catch the eye of onlookers. And when you speak into your watch…you are bound to be noticed to say the least!! So if you want to look cool, this is the watch for you.
Good and the bad..
The advantages of this phone are many. The portability factor is the USP of this product. Many of us have dropped our phones or forgotten it on the table at our local coffee house. Now that is virtually impossible with the watch phone cause its tied to your wrist! And what if you suddenly decide to take a dip in the pool or go for a water gun fight??? The answer is take the LG GD910 with you-its waterproof!! All that said and done the watch phone has its own disadvantages…The tiny buttons on the touch screen are anything but convenient! They don’t come with extendable memory card slot so your going to need another music player for your music library and your sure to run out of resources!
How much??
Since these are new to the market and are currently ‘not so easily available’ ,these devices are really really expensive. They cost more than 500$!! This makes it nearly as expensive as the Nokia N97 and the watch phones are nowhere close to the N97 in terms of the features!! These are not affordable to the common man. But I am sure as time passes these watch phones will become cheaper when they come into mass production. This will create a bigger market for the Watch Phone.
What to look out for??
It is being said that Apple will be launching a watch phone called the “Iwatch” with all the features of theIphone. So lets just wait and WATCH!!
